Printing from Fresh KDS - Setup Guide

Fresh KDS provides the ability to print labels or paper tickets directly from the app! We have partnered with POS Supply Solutions to make ordering labels/ ticket paper a breeze. You can even create automated orders to be sent on your schedule - pretty awesome!

NOTE: This feature is only available to users on the "Advanced" pricing tier. Users on the "Basic" tier will not be able to activate this feature without first upgrading to a higher tier.

Step 1: Ensure Printer is Connected to Power

  1. Follow the steps below to connect the printer into an AC electrical outlet. The light on the power cycle rectangle will turn green.

Step 2: Insert label roll

  1. To open the printer's lid, pull the yellow latches towards you and lift the lid upwards.
  2. Pull the yellow roll guides apart and insert the roll with the labels face up.
  3. Release the the roll guides and push them together to make sure the roll is secure and turning freely.
  4. Pull the labels out past the cutter at the front of the printer.
  5. Push the labels under the roll guides.
  6. Flip the labels up to adjust the media sensor accordingly: align it to the default center position.
  7. Push the lid down to snap both yellow latches shut.

Step 3: Calibrate Printer

  1. Press the power button and wait for the solid green status indicator light.
  2. Hold the pause and cancel buttons down for 2 seconds and let go. The printer will measure and feed a few blank labels.
  3. Once the printer stops and the status indicator light is solid green, the calibration is complete.

    NOTE: An initial calibration is necessary when the new roll is a different label size. You do not need to calibrate after inserting a new roll of the same label size. The printer will automatically adjust or you can press the feed button twice before printing.

Step 4: Print a Network Configuration report

  1. Press the power button and wait for the solid green status indicator light.
  2. Hold the feed and cancel buttons down for 2 seconds and let go. The Network Configuration report will print.
  3. In the BLUETOOTH section, make sure that DISCOVERABLE is ON.
  4. If it is not ON, follow the instructions on page 20 of Zebra's full Wireless Guide to change its Bluetooth settings.

Step 5: Setup Printer in Fresh KDS

  1. Once the printer is connected, open the Fresh KDS app.
  2. Select Settings in the top left, and then select Printers.

    Note: if you do not see Printers in the menu, your account is not on the "Advanced" tier, and you will need to upgrade your subscription.
  3. Click Add New Printer.
  4. Select Zebra ZD410 once it appears in the list.
  5. Rename the printer so that it is easily identifiable in the future.
  6. Choose the options for your specific use case. Label Printer will print labels, while Ticket Printer will print paper tickets. If applicable, enable Automatic Printing, otherwise leave that option toggled off. If automatic printing is disabled, you will have the option of printing individual items from a ticket.
  7. Select Configure.
  8. Click Test Print. A test print will be sent to the printer.
  9. Once a printer has been setup, a Print icon will appear at the bottom of tickets. If automatic printing is enabled, this will allow you to reprint the ticket. Otherwise, you will be prompted to select which items to print.
